Here at Mocha, we recently took on the huge challenge of covering 1000 miles over the month of April for local charities Hope Against Cancer and Bodie Hodges Foundation. Not ones to shy away from hard work, our whole team rose to the challenge and raised an impressive £1617, far exceeding our original fundraising target of £1000!

We walked, ran and cycled our way through April in a bid to hit the 1000-mile mark, tracking our miles on the fitness app Strava as we went. A challenge as it was, our team really had to ‘step’ up when we ended up two team members down due to unforeseen circumstances, leaving an extra 222 miles to cover between the remaining 7 of us!

Never to be defeated, our team kept going, eventually reaching the 1000-mile mark on the 29th April, a day ahead of target. Thanks to our friends, family and the local business community including Flannery Plant Hire, Interiors By Design, Danny Sullivan Group, VGC and Quattro Plant who were among the generous donors who helped us hit our fundraising target, Hope Against Cancer and Bodie Hodges Foundation have received some much-needed funds that will go towards their incredible work.

Hope Against Cancer are Leicestershire and Rutland’s own cancer research charity, who fund cutting edge research and make clinical trials available to local people. Hope Against Cancer have funded over 60 research projects since their incorporation in 2003.

Bodie Hodges Foundation was founded by a family who sadly experienced the death of their beautiful 10-month-old son, Bodie. Bodie Hodges Foundation was founded in 2012 to help support families who have been bereaved of a child of any age and to promote organ donation.

All of us here at Mocha Marketing hold these causes very close to our hearts and work closely with both in a personal and professional capacity, with our Founder, Gemma Orton on the board of trustees for Bodie Hodges Foundation. It was a no brainer for us to support both with this challenge.

Our Managing Director, Chloe Dennis had this to say:

“We are thrilled to have not only reached but exceeded the fundraising target for these two incredible causes and we cannot thank our family, friends, clients and business community enough for their generosity.”

“Hope Against Cancer and Bodie Hodges Foundation are both amazing local charities, extremely close to our hearts and we wanted to give something back for the incredible work they do.”

“Getting to 1000 miles in a month turned out to a much bigger challenge than any of us expected. With 2 team members down the rest of the team really had to ‘step up’ to meet our target. We are so proud of the team who threw their all into this challenge, never wavering even through the sore legs and blisters!”

It’s safe to say getting to 1000 miles over the course of a month was a bigger challenge than any of us expected and we may have only just recovered, but the money raised for Hope Against Cancer and Bodie Hodges Foundation makes it all worth it!
